THE PREMISE

I’ve just added a new page with some of the material I sent off to publishers. The section I’ve posted is called “the premise”, which is my pretentious way of saying that it describes the main themes of the book.

Any feedback is more than welcome, but for some reason I can’t seem to work out how to let people comment. Hopefully that shouldn’t be too hard – but until I do, perhaps best to let me know your thoughts here.

I dig the notion of a boom-bust personality, question your notion of psychoanalysis and am outraged that while being so heavy on the Nietzsche there is no mention of Maria Von Trapp.

    Shut your Trapp Stewart.

Will there be a twitter version too ;-)

Writing’s going alright – y’know. Working on that 23rd character – only 117 to go!

I’m looking forward to reading this book! As with anything, confidence must be measured–there must be a balance of confidence and self-doubt, yes? Otherwise, the totally confident person would be insufferable. Still, I feel I could use a larger dose of the heady stuff…

Hi, first of all I’m stealing your about phrase “dislikes: exhibitions of martyrdom and self-pity”(I couldn’t phrase the thought on my own!)

    Secondly, where is the book??

  7. rlmanthorpe says:

Hi Theodora. You’re not the first person to ask that question…

It’s taken a lot longer than I originally thought it would, but I am coming to the end of the first draft. After that I get to redraft it (woo!) and then my editor will have a go at it, which will probably take about a year.

All in all, it should be out some around Spring 2013.

Oh ok.. Yep, writing a book is a weird process, it never goes as planned..I hope you’re enjoying it though! Good luck!
